WARRENSBURG PIRANHAS SWIM TEAM

We are a coach-managaed, private USA Swimming, year-round swimming club that has a long swimming tradition in Warrensburg, Missouri and its neighboring communities. In fact, our team draws swimmers from more than 45 miles away!

Our team's swimming year actually consists of 3 individual Seasons / Swimming Sessions (Session #1 Winter: Sept - Dec; Session #2 Winter: Jan-March; Session #3 Summer: May -July). 

During the Summer our team blossoms like spring flowers and dives into action at the Nassif Aquatic Center, a state of the art outdoor swimming facility, located in Warrensburg, Missouri. During the summer swim season which begins generally around the first day of June our USA Swimming sanctioned swim team chooses to swim in an exciting recreation and developmental swim league called the Suburban Municipal Swim League (SMSL for short). The emphasis during the summer season is about fun, development of the basic strokes and healthy competition. Kids generally tell us that this is their favorite time of the year to swim! Many of our athletes fell in love with swimming during this season and decided at that point to make it a life long sport and swim all year long. We have a season for every swim fan! This season lasts until the third weekend of July and culminates to an end of season League Championship spread out over two amazing days of swimming. 

After the Summer season is over we take a short break then we start up our Session #1 of Winter Swim Season about the middle of September. This is a 10-11-week session designed to offer competitive Winter Swimming to all ages and skill levels. This season concludes at the end first of December allowing for a Holiday Break for everyone!

After the Holidays are concluded and life settles back to normal we start Session #2 of the Winter Swim Season. This season starts the first of January and goes 11 weeks through the end of March.

The Winter Swimming Season is our longest season of the swim-year. We will begin practices the first week of September and will practice and compete all the way through the end of March, but broken up into two sessions.. The theme for this season is slow, methodical growth in the sport. There are three basic swim groups or squads which make up Winter Swim Season. 

As you can see we are quite differently designed than most competitive Year-Round USA Swimming swim teams. We have NO try-outs and we don't swim continuously the entire 12 months. The other thing you will find in our program is VALUE for your extracurricular dollar. You will find that our swimming fees are often half of what traditional USA Swimming Teams in the region are charging. And, generally speaking, we offer more practice opportunities per dollar than our peers. How can we do this? 

A key ingredient to our formula is that we have an AMAZING partnership with our community Parks and Recreation  team. Although the Warrensburg Piranhas is its own independently owned and coach run athletic team both entities have joined forces to promote a common mission within the community. To be focused on working together with the same basic mission of bringing affordable and quality athletic programs to the youth of the region - is a partnership many Swim Teams are not as lucky to have.

 All of our coaches have the same training and the same certifications as the more expensive Club Teams and our two head coaches who run the team have a combined swim team coaching experience of 50 years and grew up swimming as year-round athletes. 

It's not uncommon to find their swimmers continuing to swim in high school as stand-out athletes or in college breaking school records. We even have past swimmers who carry the torch for swimming and have joined the coaching ranks. As you can tell - swimming is not just another childhood sport for us ... it's a culture and way of life. We have a saying on our team. Once you become a Piranhas athlete you are a Piranhas for life. You aren't just part of a team - - you are part of a Family !

We are all very excited about the sport of swimming - and we believe our team is better than all others in spirit, dedication and fun. The Piranhas have numerous 1st Place finishes in the SMSL Championships and went undefeated in the last 4 seasons of Summer League dual-meet competitions. In 2018 and 2021, the Piranhas took 1st place overall in the SMSL Summer League Championships.

No one is ever turned away from the Piranhas based upon ability. Our team does NOT conduct “Try Outs” like other competitive programs. Swimmers with disabilities are welcome and there may be scholarships available for special financial circumstances. We are also very Home School friendly. Many Home School families use the Piranhas Swim Team as their physical education curriculum in their Home School schedule. Let us know how we can accommodate you.
